Data Carpentry Course
8 - 9 January 2019 at EPCC, Edinburgh
Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience, and its lessons are domain specific, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research.
Topics will include:
- Open Refine
- Programming in Refine
- Managing Data with SQL
The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers. You don't need to have any
previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.
The course is free of charge for all academics including students.

RDF Maintenance Session
- The Research Data Facility (RDF) will be shutdown for maintenance from 0900 - 1700 on Wednesday 28th November. During this shutdown, ARCHER will be available but will not have access to the RDF filesystems which includes /epsrc, /nerc and /general.
- The Data Analytic Cluster (DAC) and Data Transfer Nodes (DTNs) will be available but will not have access to the RDF filesystems during the maintenance.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this essential work.
ARCHER Module Changes
OpenFOAM v1712
OpenFOAM v1712 has been updated from build1 to build2. build2 is recommended for new work and is needed if you use non-OpenFOAM libraries in your user applications and libraries. build1 is still available for existing work. For more information see the documentation.
