This VT is an introduction to programming GPUs using OpenMP's vendor-neutral target offload
directives. It will cover the underlying offloading model, how to exploit parallelism on the
device, how to manage data transfers between the host and device, and some basic performance issues.

Programming the ARM64 Processor
30 September - 1 October 2019 at University of Cambridge
This two-day workshop will provide an introduction to, and hands on experience working with, the Arm HPC architecture and the accompanying ecosystem.
Starting with an introduction to current generation Arm HPC architectures, this workshop will provide an opportunity to build and run your own codes on a 64-node (4,000-core) Arm based super computer.
During the second half of the workshop we will cover more advanced, architecture specific, optimisations including a focus on Arm’s next generation of vectorisation instructions, SVE.

Good Practice for transferring data

The end of the ARCHER service is approaching and many users have large numbers of files and/or volumes of data on the service which may need to be moved to alternative locations before the end of service. Recently, we have updated the ARCHER Data Management Guide (http://www.archer.ac.uk/documentation/data-management/index.php) with useful advice on transferring data between different sites and systems. In this webinar, we will discuss the issues around data transfer, present practical advice to users about data transfer and answer questions and concerns users may have on issues around data management and transfer.

HPC-Europa3 Transnational Access programme
Collaborative research visits using High Performance Computing
Call for applications: next closing date 19th September 2019
HPC-Europa3 funds research visits for computational scientists in any discipline which can use High Performance Computing (HPC).
Visits can be made to research institutes in Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden or the UK.
UK-based researchers can benefit in two ways: either by visiting a research group elsewhere in Europe, or by hosting a research visitor from another country.
What does HPC-Europa3 provide?
- Funding for travel, living and accommodation expenses for visits of up to 13 weeks.
- Access to world-class High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities.
- Technical support to help you make best use of the HPC systems.
- Collaborative environment with an expert in your field of research.
Who can apply?
- Researchers of all levels, from postgraduate to full professors.
- Researchers from academia or industry.
- Researchers currently working in a European Union country or Associated State (see http://bit.ly/2PkVsSV for full list of Associated States).
- Researchers may not visit a group in the country where they currently work.
- A small number of places are available for researchers working outside these countries - please contact staff@hpc-europa.org for more information.
